What are your favorite books about "Ulysses" in specific, and Joyce in
general?

I of course enjoy "ReJoyce" by Anthony Burgess, but a special joy is
"Mythic Worlds, Modern Words" by Joseph Campbell. I think it's out of
print but you can find copies in used book stores.

"Jocoserious Joyce" is fun..."Joyce's Voices" a bit less so...and of
course Gifford's biggie.

Wow...

Someone is really reading James Joyce books? I tried once to start
reading THE book of the century - Ulysses and I think I reached page 9
after maybe 3 months of trying...

it one of the most boring of books...<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Try the movie. It's better. But I disagree that the book is boring. It's
just that Joyce wanted everyone to read it all their lives and that's pretty
fecking selfish even for an Irishman!

I've been reading it on and off for twenty years now. Picking it up, wading
through a chapter, putting it down for a few years, reading other stuff,
returning to it etc etc and now I'm almost at the end.
Just got the question and answer chapter and then Molly Bloom's soliloguy.

I wouldn't say its boring just really really
abstruse.
