Finches
Their Care and Breeding
by M. L. & Flora Flowers
Written at Bird Haven, Reseda California
This book covers the care, feeding, and breeding of finches with many
varieties described: Buntings, Waxbills, Sparrows, Grossbeaks, Cardinals,
Tanagers, Weavers, etc. The text provides details about each variety,
including its habits and needs. There are color plates throughout the book
to aid in identification of the species. A useful reference for the bird
owner or breeder, especially to see the birds that were available at the
time, as many are no longer imported. The date of this edition is unknown
although it is listed as Edition GC9491. The earliest was 1933. The cover
does not match the 1955 edition, so it may be from the late 1930s through
the early 1950s. Illustrated with over 80 color pictures, in addition to
small B&E drawings.
Bird Haven, Reseda CA, Edition GC9491, 80 pages, 5 1/4" x 7 3/4", trade
