and for the frog take on things, see Marc Ferro,
_La Grande Guerre_. arguably the best book ever written

I have long been interested in this period of time. I have read
Tuchman, The Guns of August and The Zimmerman Telegram, Solzhenitsyn,
August, 1914, and Keynes, The Economic Consequences of the Peace [I even
bought myself a 1st Edition of it], among others. So, this
recommendation is much appreciated.
