I just received a colorful large postcard with an offer for the
"Flatsigned Press" Autographed Limited Editions". (If there was a
previous thread on this, ignore the following and kindly provide the link.

The offerings include; The Warren Commission Report autographed by
Gerald Ford; two books autographed by Buzz Aldren and a limited edition
signed by the authors.

The whole enterprise fascinates me.

Did a circa 90 year old man sit in the hot Palm Springs sun signing 2000
plus books? Is Buzz Aldrin in financial difficulties? Will a member of
this group pony up $489.00 to $1289.00 ( there are upgrades) to assuage
my curiosity?

I'll offer some historical references; others will offer their opinions.

Thank you. I am somewhat aware of his (it's) history. The thing I found
remarkable is he (it) is publishing limited edition autographed volumes
under the "Flat Signed Press" indicia [for latin speakers read
indicium]. This is a publishing adventure unto itself. Please see -

....

No, they probably had air conditioning in any case and signed books
in the evening. After riding up and down the strip on their
Harleys all day. (see below)

As demand for their signature has dropped off since the 70's, they
were probably only too pleased to sign 2000 plus books as it reminded
them of the old days.

Did they care ? Would any 90 year old care ? Who knows?

Do you think in exactly the same way as would everyone else of your
own age ?

Maybe these two haven't subjected their bodies to so much abuse from,
chemical substances, alcohol and equally questionable practices
as have some of us, eh? Maybe some of us won't even make it past 60.

Who's to know?

Maybe unlike you he won't pass up the chance to make himself a few
easy bucks in a relatively dignified fashion. To buy himself a new
Harley maybe. Or a new Porsche for his 35 yr old girlfriend.

Buying the book probably won't assuage your curiosity.

To do that you'd need to see flatsigned's subscription list.

As it's maybe unlikely that very many will come on the secondhand
market unless the buyers, unlike Ford or Aldren, need to liquidate
their assets in a hurry. Now that......is financial difficulties.

This is presumably an initiative by Flasigned. Which shows rather
more evidence of distress on his part than it does on the part of
Ford or Aldren IMO. As my limited understnding of this market suggests
he's trying to muscle in on Franklin\Easton territory, as maybe his
own territory is drying up. But that's just a guess.
