Not only does Leso get away (which I figured he would anyways..), but
escapes to the Tsuranuanni world, but becomes a black robe no less?
Now he''ll have all the inside scoop the Talnoy, AND he's got that
little staff also.
Well, some new insights on Nakor, and this new guy Bek!!
Can't you get those publishers/distributors a nudge to get the next
book out sooner!!!!! >> Stay informed about: Flight of the Nighthawks observations...... |

Well, it is the "Darkwar" series, and I can see some definate buildups
now. Ya, not much in a giveway that Leso gets away.
Through the first half of the book i was wondering on where the Bek
character was going to go. But i'm still left wondering. There's some
possibilities there, some good, some bad... VERY BAD.. Not to mention
his interesting relationship with Nakor!!
Then there is this 'ideal' in the conclave that is basically, sometimes
you have to sacrifice a part (or many parts), for the good of the
whole. Thus was Pugs 'withdrawl' from the Kingdom. Now I wonder, how
big will this sacrifice be? Think about everything we know right now,
and that the 'Darkwar' will be like no other. Imagine the fall of
Krondor on a continental scale, or even global scale!!! The amount of
negative engery Leso can generate for the sake of the "Nameless One".
I can also see a potential game of "hot potato" between Kelewan and
Midkemia with the Talnoy. But with Leso
in possesion of that little staff, the rifts the Talnoy is creating
might end up being a mute point.
I was genuinly sad when reading through the fall of Krondor. Dukes
James death. Squire/Duke James ~ Jimmy the Hand was a character to
love. One of the best characters in any novel I've read. Could you
even imagine, the Kingdom, Kesh, Roldem, etc.. all reduced to ashes? >> Stay informed about: Flight of the Nighthawks observations...... |

Personally, I don't mind cryptic stuff in regards to the new book.
(like your first post) But this was a bit much. Knowing how much of
an impact that Leso can have with his new position is a HUGE spoiler.
Try to dial it down to less specific information. Major plot points
are so much better when you stumble onto them as you read. Another
thing, could you write in the body of the text which book the spoiler
is for. That alone would have stopped me from reading any of it.

Actually it wasn't. I get the digest, only going to the group if I am
going to post. Sometimes I have 6-7 posts between the title and the
body of the message. I don't always read them all, and loose track of
which one might go with what title. It is not that big a deal though,
I have my copy of Flight in the mail as we speak.
i'm being VERY careful now on the posts. I'm reading Legends of the
Riftwar now, so I've got Massive Feist on the brain. Which makes NOT
reading all the posts that much harder.

Tricky, annoying software is the usual method. Both the "listserv" and
"majordomo" mailing list software have nntp <=> mail gateways should
you want the pain of configuring and maintaining 'em.

One of my very favorite Riftwar books is Honoured Enemy from this series.
The others don't do much for me, but this one is outstanding.

Not yet, you mean, as it will be released in the US in '06, AFAIK...
I personally liked the book (and will continue to buy the next ones in
hardcover), although I'm not totally enthusiastic, since, well, it lacks
the newness of earlier books. If you liked the Midkemia or the Serpentwar
saga, though, and want more of it, here's you chance...
A few random remarks on "Flight of the Nighthawks" from me will follow
below the spoiler space...

The two (and finally, three) young guys that were introduced in the book
are a good thing, but I can't really identify with them, yet. Maybe they
need to get their own plot thread (without protection of Caleb or others)
for that to happen.
A detail: Pug still doesn't know how to teleport around without those
Tsurani devices? I could be mistaken, but I thought he did just that at the
end of the Serpentwar saga already (after he had only one of those devices
left, which was on its last leg)?
A little criticism: generally, I hope that there will be some more
unexpected plot twists in the current series. What happened in "Flight" was
just a bit too straightforward for me. Yeah, I know, there *was* a
surprise, that I don't want to mention even here in the spoiler section,
but that's not the way I mean it. I was thinking more into the direction of
things like drama, betrayal etc.
The book even showed some potential for that: Magnus, while being a good
guy (showing genuine affection for his brother, for example), also exposed
some character flaws, as we were told by Lims Kragma: arrogance and vanity.
Let's see, whether these things will play a role in the next books of the
"Darkwar" series. Maybe he could go over to the dark side? Interesting
possibility, IMO
