I found an old book, maybe 150 years old , that seems to be
cursed.Itīs about witchcraft and ghosts.Since I started reading it, I
got many warts on my body and strange things happen.

I must get rid of it fast.

What can I do ?

Can I sell a cursed book on ebay ?

Hey, as long as you note it in your description--"Cursed, else fine." Add a
spooky pic, cross-list in the Weird Stuff category, and watch the bids roll
in! Or not--since the book's curse will probably spoil your auction...

Ah! A cursed book! Lucky you posted this. First, you must purge the book of
evil spirits. To do this, take it with you at midnight on the night of the
next full moon, prick your finger on the thorn of a rose, allow three drops
of blood to fall to the ground, and sit under the rose bush with the book
until sunrise.

Then you must purge yourself. To do this, you need to empty your bank
account, but you must not give the money to unsuspecting persons, who will
infallibly then fall under the curse. Fortunately, I can safely take it off
your hands, since I am the only surviving pupil of the only wizard who
learned how to lift this curse. Contact me for further instructions.

Do not attempt to sell the book. After purging it, it must be buried with
full accompanying ritual by a qualified witch or wizard. Your local Wiccan
church or witches' coven should be able to help you with this.

All very good advice. I think we need some additions to the FAQ:-

* I have this book I think is cursed. How can I be sure?
* Is a haunted second printing more or less valuable than a first that's
been exorcised?
* I need to bury a valuable book at a crossroads at midnight. Should I wrap
it in mylar or just put it in an old tin box?
* What's the best way to remove demonic stains from a cloth binding?
* PLEASE HELP ME!! I AM MELTING AWAY!! AIAGGHHHH!

John:

Amusing as this thread may be, this poster has previously trolled a
rape group by claiming to enjoy rape (as his history will show).

I think you should keep him at a very long arm's length.

You know, if you respond to this kind of nonsense, you really can't
complain when it keeps popping up here...

I must admit, I didn't check his posting history. This weirdo apparently
entertains himself by variously claiming to be a cannibal, to defecate in
public and (a slight but not insignificant emendation to what you wrote,
Chris) to enjoy being raped.

He is obviously a poor inadequate excuse for a life form and, to make things
even sadder, he almost never even gets a follow-up to his postings. This
is - by quite a long way - the biggest chunk of attention he has ever had on
usenet - his day of glory.

Poor sod.

But I'm *not* complaining. Just trying to bring a little bit of jollity into
your day.
