Sorry, but the Trekker in me has to ask - is that an android who tries to be
a dragon but who will always fail, though in various heartwarming ways?
Or is it the Big Blue String Theory Soup Dragon...

One trusts that the spammer is now a slowly-cooling puddle of slag?

The recent good news of course is that there's no longer any
risk of the moose-murderer becoming president of the USA.[1]

Thankfully--in my opinion anyway-- I believe that we have elected the
right person for president. I'm not quite as sure about the VP, but
it was a package deal, and the other package stunk like--well, road-
kill. Hopefully, Ms. Palin will slink back to her Alaskan den and
pull it in after her. Especially after the hatchet job that McCain's
people are doing on her currently, They seem to be blaming his losing
the election on her. *(1) Nothing like having allies who have your
back, eh?*(2)

Whatever happens, at least Burn Notice will be back with new episodes
in January, allowing me to retreat into fantasy in case the real
world gets too bizarre.

I have now read up into July in the local paper, (July 7-8,
thereabouts) where there was an article about terrorists bombing the
Indian embassy in Kabul. What is up with that? Because if they were
trying to elicit sympathy for their cause, they blew it as regards
me. I find much of the world incomprehensible, as I seem to think at
right angles to most everyone else. I really would like to know what
the thought process is that is going on in their heads. Just
curiosity, really. And -- no, it really is just curiosity.

*(1) It was... in part, anyway. Partly it was his insistence on the
correctness of our being in Iraq, which a great number of Usians do
_not_ support, in case you wondered.
*(2)They do, only it is just to insert the knife.

This is a test - I just managed to delete the spam and since I don't trust myself with electronic gadgets, I'm running a test to see if I've managed to do it properly. Or if I've managed to delete all messages before I have a chance to read them. Jackie

I'm Back. - From visiting my sister and sister in law in Boston. Phew. No one in Boston (with the possible exception of hoteliers) has an airconditioner, most likely because no one needs one most of the time, and if we had gone up at just about any other time this..

does anyone know how to - clean the screens of those touchy-feely monitor screens? The soft ones that give a little if you touch them. Don't want to do any damage to someone else's machine. -- Diem Guardian of Gargoyles and Woodlice (email dm at diemzone not news)

Yet more new books - Sometimes you stumble across a book that you just want to tell everyone about. It happened with the first Harry Potter (although I mostly told people that it was ripping everyone else off :-) It happened with Jasper Fforde (and hooray, The Well of Lost...

Ouch - Line 'em up Melody. I'm on virtual drinks only for the next week. I had an appointment with the doctor to check if I needed any adjustment on the treatment on my knee now the swellings gone down. Doctor thinks it's just cartilage and fluid so it's..
