Post subject: Help! Need to find a quote
Archived from groups: alt>books>cs-lewis (more info?)

I remember reading a Lewis quote some years ago that was absolutely
beautiful, and which I need at this point in my life, but I cannot
find it. It is something along the lines of " our soul is like a
little cottage, and we ask Christ to come in and do a little remodel,
but it is much more painful than we had planned, and we protest that
all that work isn't really necessary, but when He finishes, instead of
the larger little cottage we had envisioned, we are left a mansion."
Does anyone know where I could find the actual quote?

It's the following passage from Mere Christianity (from the chapter, "Is
Christianity Hard or Easy?")

>> I find I must borrow yet another parable from George MacDonald.
>> Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that
>> house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He
