Help

Approximately 3 or 4 years ago I read a book from the local library.
Would like to find again, as well as anything else the author has out.

The author was a older man. Northeast (NY, Boston) area. The main
character is 5 foot 2 inches and starts detective work for a lawyer
serving papers.

I think the author had other novels and characters out prior to the
first publication of this (series?).

Can anyone help? I've gotten away from reading for a long time and
finally becoming interested again.
