Taped it so I could watch later this week. Looking forward to it! :>
Finally had time to rent movies last weekend, and meant to watch one last
night. But the blasted DVD disc was dirty/flawed/whatever. First time I
rented movies since the summer, too.
Good thing I rented two of them. :>

I'll say no more than the SFX were very nicely done, and it did NOT look

Ditto. Watched part of it last night. The actor playing
Tey-ah-tim-ah reminds an AWFUL lot of Johnny Depp's rendition of
Willy Wonka. Very nicely done.

The US DVD was released exclusively through Borders this month, and will be
generally released in the spring of 2008.
I noticed several minor trims in the version shown on ION, probably mostly
for time reasons (they blurred over the last word in the philospher's
theory of the universe "Things happen, what the hell.", that was probably a
content decision since ION is still heavily Christian/Family)

I got the collector UK DVD as birthday present. We watched it with some
friends, and as soon as we finished, it was lent to other friends I
loved the Death of Rats (squeee) and found it very well done. It does
not denature the book and is really fun !
We are now waiting with great impatience for that:

Yes!!! I found it at Borders today. Now to find the willpower to let the
kids wrap it for Christmas for me. Less than a month to go.

Have you ever tried the "steam the tape open over a boiling teakettle"
technique? It works in murder mysteries, and no one in the murder mystery
detects that the package has been steamed open and re-sealed.
If the technique is in a novel, it must work, right?
That clear plastic stuff they seal new DVDS with might be harder to seal
closed again. Maybe your kids wouldn't notice if they wrapped in holiday
paper a DVD with plastic wrap on, and you unwrapped a DVD gift that was
missing the clear plastic seal?

Another method is to have some friend working at one of those DVD and
such stores, they have a machine to rewrap DVDs and CDs...
