Is this Jory Sherman, a man belittled by Bukowski who then carved out
a "career" as a writer of cowboy novels?

The same Jory Sherman who wrote a bitter book denouncing our favourite
Bukster?

Come on BIG ONE, what say you?

I am Jory Sherman, not JR Sherman. And, I do write novels of the West, as
well as mainstream fiction (i.e. THE BALLAD OF PINEWOOD LAKE). i did not
write bitterly of my long-time frined, Charles Bukowski (over 20 years),
but examined our relationship and the ending of our friendship. I saw
Hank break off many a friendship during those 20 odd years and was hurt
when it finally happened to me. But, the good moments far outweighed the
final farewell. I am a great admirer of this poet, this man and I was his
champion long before anyone else got on his bandwagon. I was the first to
read his poetry in public, and I was West Coast editor for THE OUTSIDER,
which put Jon Edgar Webb and Bukowski together for publication of some of
Hank's finest work.
So, get your facts straight. And, I'm not a "cowboy writer," and I still
publish poetry occasionaly.
Cordially,
Jory Sherman

Pleased to meet you, Jory. We already have a troll named J R Sherman in
the poetry newsgroups, who the other guy confused with you. He's a
do-nothing low life, and I understand how frustrating it must have been
to have been confused with him.

How about coming over to the poetry groups with some of your poetry?

Really. At least then we'll have a Sherman who posts poetry, instead of
one who is an attention-starved poseur.

A friend of the Buk, who writes cowboy novels! By all means he'll bring
some life to this place!

ACTUALLY, YOU WOULD BE GETTING A HACK WRITER OF PULP COWBOY
STORIES(DESPITE HIS LAME DENIALS) and a master of trite cliches. The
titles of his books say it all: Kansas Kitten, Frontier Fanny, and,
best of all, Tucson Twosome. Tucson Twosome? What the fuck is that all
about?

Cheap alliteration. Is this serious fiction? The guy is a
money-grubbing hustler who sold out long ago. He's also a pompous ass.
THE OUTSIDER lasted all of 3 issues and yet he brags about being the
"California editor".

The Bukster was right to dump this guy.

I never met Buk and never corresponded with him, but I sure don't try
to pass off formulaic dime novels as the real thing.
Stick that up yer sagebrush!

Heh. Already, just from the titles, he's outwritten the jr sherman we
have.

I hope he'll return, with some of the poetry he's written.

I hope he returns to the "ranch" (suburban tract home) to which
Bukowski exiled him. The guy is a dunce.

Novels of "THE WEST" my hairy ass!
