SEAN WILSEY
reading & book signing for Oh, the Glory of It All
Thursday, June 2nd at 7:00 pm
--- Oh, the Glory of It All is a new memoir from McSweeney's founding
editor - and San Francisco native - Sean Wilsey. It tells the story of
his unorthodox and at times painful childhood in one of the most
grandiose of families. "Holy moley this is a great read - probably the
most compulsively readable book I've picked up in years." - Dave
Eggers.

Sean Wilsey's writing has appeared in The London Review of Books, The
Los Angeles Times, and McSweeney's Quarterly, where he is the editor at
large. Before going to McSweeney's he worked as an editorial assistant
at The New Yorker, a fact checker at Ladies' Home Journal, a letters
correspondent at Newsweek, and an apprentice gondolier in Venice,
Italy.

DAVID SEDARIS
reading & book signing for Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim
Thursday, June 9th at 7:00 pm
--- In Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim (now out in paperback),
David Sedaris plays in the snow with his sisters. He goes on vacation
with his family. He gets a job selling drinks. He attends his
brother's wedding. He mops his sister's floor. He gives directions to
a lost traveler. He eats a hamburger. He has his blood sugar tested. It
all sounds so normal, doesn't it?

David Sedaris - the writer Time Magazine named America's favorite
humorist - is the author of Me Talk Pretty One Day, Barrel Fever,
Naked, and Holidays on Ice. He is a regular contributor to This
American Life and to the New Yorker. Sedaris also edited a new
anthology of short stories, Children Playing Before a Statue of
Hercules.

LOIS MCMASTER BUJOLD
reading & book signing for The Hallowed Hunt
Friday, June 10th at 7:00 pm
--- The Hallowed Hunt is the third installment in Lois McMaster
Bujold's richly detailed fantasy series. It follows The Curse of
Chalion and the Hugo and Nebula Award-winning Paladin of Souls, and
tells an epic tale of devotion and strange destiny . . . destiny
bestowed upon the characters by the gods, the damned, and the dead.

Lois McMaster Bujold's is one of the most acclaimed figures in the
field of speculative fiction. She has received numerous accolades,
including multiple Hugo and Nebula Awards. She has, in fact, won more
Hugo Awards for Best Novel than any other author with the exception of
Robert Heinlein.

KEVIN SMOKLER
reading & book signing for Bookmark Now
Thursday, June 16th at 7:00 pm
--- The sky is NOT caving in on American letters. Far from it. The
immensely talented writers collected in Bookmark Now all came of age as
writers in the last decade - and all chose creative pursuits over other
more lucrative and decidedly flashier careers. Why? Local literary
champion and editor Kevin Smokler reveals all as we celebrate the
publication of his inspiring new anthology.

Kevin Smokler's has contributed to the San Francisco Chronicle, The
Believer, ReadyMade, and to National Public Radio. He lives in San
Francisco, California.

ERIK DAVIS
reading & book signing for Led Zepplin 33 1/3
Friday, June 17th at 7:00 pm
--- In Led Zepplin 33 1/3, an entertaining and thoroughly informed
homage to one of rock music's towering achievements, Erik Davis
investigates the magic - black or otherwise - that surrounds the album,
Led Zepplin IV. Peeling the layers from each song, Davis reveals their
dark and often mystical roots - and leaves the reader to decide whether
this recording is some form of occult induction or just an inspired
recording.

Erik Davis has been writing about music, subcultures, and technology
for fifteen years. His book, Techgnosis: Myth, Magic, and Mysticism in
the Age of Information (1998), was translated into five languages and
has recently been republished. He is a regular contributor to Wired,
and lives in San Francisco, where he is currently researching the
history of the California counterculture.

AARON GLANTZ
reading & book signing for How America Lost Iraq
Tuesday, June 21st at 7:00 pm

How America Lost Iraq is the brutally honest account of a reporter who
discovered how popular the U.S. presence was in Iraq - and who then
watched this popularity disappear as the Bush administration mishandled
the war. Aaron Glantz's new book tells how the U.S. squandered early
victories and goodwill among the Iraqi people and allowed a newly freed
society to slip into violence and chaos.

Aaron Glantz is a reporter for Pacifica Radio and many other media
outlets. He lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. This is his first
book.

DANIEL CLOWES
book signing for Ice Haven
Friday, June 24th at 7:00 pm

Welcome to Ice Haven! "It's not as cold here as it sounds," declares
Random Wilder, our reluctant guide to this sleepy Midwestern town. Ice
Haven, the new graphic novel from Daniel Clowes, weaves a
multi-layered tale that, while it owes a debt to Our Town, is
ultimately based on and inspired by the case of Leopold and Loeb.
Please note: this is a book signing only.

Daniel Clowes is an acclaimed author of numerous graphic novels. Ghost
World, his most popular book, has sold more than 100,000 copies. Ghost
World was also the basis for a popular film by Terry Zwigoff. A new
Clowes-based, Zwigoff-directed film, Art School Confidential, is set to
debut in September.
