Yeah, a new book. It's called _Armageddon in Retrospect_ and is about
Vonnegut's experiences in Dresden.
From http://www.pagesix.com/story/vonnegut+s+last+roar:
Vonnegut's Last Roar
KURT Vonnegut is gone - but he left behind a final book that's sure to cause
a stir. In "Armageddon in Retrospect," out this April, the former Army man
gives a jolting account of the relentless bombing of Dresden during World
War II and how US forces passed out pamphlets to survivors justifying it as
the "unintentional, unavoidable fortunes of war." He writes: "The leaflet
should have read: We hit every blessed church, hospital, school, museum,
theater, your university, the zoo and every apartment building in town, but
we honestly weren't trying hard to do it . . . So sorry. Saturation bombing
is all the rage these days."
Give 'em hell, Kurt! It comes out on April Fool's Day, and it can be
ordered here:

I hope to hell it's not someone compiling his notes and publishing this
under his name. I thought his last novel was just terrible, and he
seemed to have completely run out of steam. If this is a serious
effort, it seems curious that we hadn't heard of it before.

Do you mean "Timequake"?
I thought it was quite good - even better on the 2nd reading!
But it was something only his fans could truly appreciate I think - it
was written with so much history of other things he's written and
said. >> Stay informed about: KV's New Book |

I've been a fan since 1974. I just didn't like it. It was dull. No
real creativity to it.

A new book?! I thought this was bogus when reading this message, but
I guess the amazon link proves it. Well I don't know what to say. I
am happy, doubt; the more the better. But, at the same time, I have
to agree that his last novel, Timequake, was quite weak (at least
compared to the bulk of his work), and I am sure this book one be
anything special.
I look forward to hit all the same. It will be interesting--
especially when considering that he said he never really wanted to
give a full, detailed account of his Dresden experience. >> Stay informed about: KV's New Book |
