Funny you should mentio it, I've been pondering Rogue the vampire slayer,
with which characters would be who's equivalents: Shadowcat for willow, xavier
for giles, iceman for xander, etc.

That's debatable if I feel like I'm reading a story that I just spent

Not how I read that scene, sorry, she's simply having a nervous reaction to
any mention of magic, she's saying "Similar to, but .." either "different"
or "not".

Well, it's not just my interpretation, the general feeling amongst Buffy
fans is that the "Yeah, similar to, but, um..." part was definitely saying
that she had used magic to pass her exams.

I think it was in entertainment weekly...whedon wrote that pryde was a
strong influence on Buffy....maybe he see's her more as a girl that fights
for what she believes, and less the whole genius angle?
