I've been reading the latest string of messages regarding library book sales,
etc. Its ironic then that I happened to stop in a small town north of my city
on the way home from the golf course and found the local library having a book
sale. The cost: $2 per bag.
Filling up one bag, I got at an average cost of 28 cents:

John Dos Passos: "Number One"; SIGNED, DATED & INSCRIBED (8/15/1943); first
edition; VG/None

Caputo: "Rumor of War" 1st edition; VG+/None

Updike: "Rabbit is Rich" 1st; F/F (and another 1st of "Witches of Eastwick")

Smuts, J. C.: "Jan Christian Smuts by His Son"; 1st South African edition
(1952); VG/G

Deighton: "Yesterday's Spy"; 1st edition; F/F

Not a bad day. The Dos Passos book will probably end up on Ebay as will the
Caputo (I have two firsts now).

Next time, you decide to ride around and stop at book sales, give me a call.
