For the French readers like myself, Denis Lehane will present "Shutter Island"
at Librairie Compagnie, 58 rue des Ecoles (75005 Paris) on the 4th of September,
6 p.m. Has anyone read it and can you tell me about it?

I haven't read it yet, though I've read all his other books from the
first release on, but I think this one does not have his usual
protagonists.

Just started it Friday. You're right, no Patrick and Angie in this
one. Not even the present day: set in 1954. I'm about 125 pages into
the book, and liking it a lot.

I read Shutter Island a few months ago, it's awesome.
Best book I've read this year, I think, wait, I'm still thinking
about it.

Hi all.
I discovered Lehane mysteries a few weeks ago. Am currently on #4 of the
Angie/Patrick detective novels. However, I do not think they compare with
his two stand alone novels - Shutter Island and Mystic River. Those two were
absolutely fantastic as far as I feel. I do not think I have ever read a
better mystery writer.

To the poster who was going to see Lehane in Paris - did you go? Did you get
a copy of Shutter Isalnd? I picked that up one afternoon and could not put
it down until I finished it at about 3am the next morning. I was entralled
from the first page to the very ending.

Mystic Island is soon to be relaeased as a movie directed by Clint Eastwood.
The characters seem to be well matched in my opinion. Any other Lehane
fans??

Happy reading!
Marty
