"We're going to meet the voters where they are," [Bob] Shrum had told me
early in the Kerry campaign, which sounded innocent enough - but what he
really meant was, We're going to follow our polling numbers and focus
groups. We're going to emphasize the things that voters think are
important.

In fact, Shrum had it completely wrong.

Presidential campaigns are not about "meeting the voters where they are."
They are about leadership and character.

Mark Mellman, Kerry's lead pollster, figured that out too late. "If you
asked people what they were most interested in, they would say jobs,
education and health care," he later said. "But they thought the President
should be interested in national security."

They never emphasized what voters thought. They toed the corporate line.
More soldiers for more imperialist war. Amnesia Mr. Hines?

That's right. That's why Democrats keep loosing. Of course they don't
mind it. Their duty is to keep the left in check, and shift to the
right. And pick up the scraps under the table.

Or misleadership and lack of character. It's about PR to depict it the
other way!

The mass illegal immigration movement is destroying the traditional
bases of support for the liberal (as opposed to radical left) segment
of the Democratic Party. The labor unions are being undercut by the
mass of undocumented illegal immigrants working below minimum wage in
the black market. All the low wage construction jobs around here are
being done now by the immigrants, who are physically much tougher and
stronger than the natives, who have gone soft due to the easy life they
have had. If one had to walk 3000 miles to get here, I guess that would
mean one was pretty tough to begin with.

The environmental movement has been crippled and the environment
severely degraded due to California having been swamped by the huge
mass of undocumented illegal immigrants. Wherever the illegals go they
turn the landscape into a 3rd world garbage dump, starting from the
first day, tossing their beer cans and fast food wrappers out the
windows of their cars as they speed by, leaving their refuse behind
after they eat lunch in the parks without making any effort to place it
in the garbage cans sitting a few feet away. The public has to demand
zero tolerance of that kind of littering and the gang graffitti the
criminal gang members deface the facilities with in order to claim the
public places for their own gangs. The best defense is a good offense,
and since the war against illegal immigration is mainly a public
relations war fought in the mass media, there needs to be more focus on
reporting the violent crimes and burglaries committed by the illegal
immigrants, who have been treated so tolerantly in California that they
now commit murder quite casually over minor incidents, then run back to
Mexico and safety afterwards. There also needs to be more focus on
reporting and *demonizing* the reckless undocumented illegal immigrant
drivers who are killing so many law-abiding citizens in road accidents,
as well as generally driving unsafely, without a license or insurance,
with their vehicles not up to the safety standards in the vehicles,
driving without license plates etc. If the police would just make that
a regular practice, checking the cars in areas frequented by
undocumented illegal immigrants to see if they conform to the vehicel
code, a lot of lives of innocent law-abiding citizens could be saved.

California may have the worst of the problem now, but it is spreading
rapidly to the rest of the country and if people don't wake up they are
going to have the same problems we have. We just had a murder near Coit
Tower in San Francisco where according to news reports it sounds like
illegal immigrants were involved, and the tourists at that very popular
tourist location were so delusional that the next day when they were
interviewed by the media they didn't want to hear about that ugly
reality, or thought the media was playing a joke on them. But it is
going on all around us, only the liberals in their sheltered
environments don't see it until it is too late.

All the gains made by the black population during the civil rights
movement are being lost, the illegal immigrants have taken away their
jobs (less than a third of black males in some age groups around here
have jobs, more than that are in prison or under the supervision of the
criminal justice system in some age groups.) The illegals have swamped
the health care and welfare system and public school system, degrading
the health care and education available to the black population.

The Democratic Party has become a hollow shell as a consequence of the
flood of illegal immigration, the idealistic liberals are dying out and
being replaced by unscrupulous self-interested opportunists seeking to
exploit the immigrant population for votes, caring nothing about the
well-being of the labor unions, the environment, or the black
population. The main gang wars are immigrant gangs vs. black gangs, and
the black gangs are losing turf rapidly.

New laws increasing the penalties for crimes committed by gang members
are needed, and something needs to be done about the youth culture
practice of wearing gang clothing. When it reaches a critical mass, the
kids not wearing gang colors feel so intimidated that they adopt that
style and join the gang culture themselves, and if you happen to wear
the wrong color you are liable to get killed by some idiot mistaking
you for a member in a rival gang. This is similar to the problem in
France of the terrorists trying to force the Islamic girls to wear head
scarves, gang clothing is another gang intimidation tactic and some
legal remedy needs to be found.
