Yes, fellow bookworms, I am 80 yrs old today and currently rereading,
God knows why, the "Kate Fansler" academic mysteries of Amanda Cross. In
sequence. Most recently *The James Joyce Murder* which makes the nice
point that *Dubliners* is no more than a Bloomless *Ulysses* and thus
something of an empty container. There is the suggestion that *Ivy Day
In The Committee Room* rather than *The Dead* is the best of the bunch.

Just like Eilzabeth II, but probably not quite so dowdy.

Seven more and you'll earn a Gettysburg address.

The hills of Baja Kentucky are no doubt a riot of color in celebration.

Happy birthday, Francis.

And yes, I sort of made the same observation without the
prompting of Amanda Cross, but more from reading Ellmann
who after all was a specialist in Dubliners.

I thought the problem with Dubliners was that undergraduate lit
professors had made into a game of "Spot the Epiphany," with "The
Dead" being the one where you get thumped over the head by the
epiphany.

Happy natal day. So "caper and sing and leap when you sing your wild
free tune wotthehell wotthehell under the blear eyed moon"
