yep, wrong dour (dower) used, my spill shacker didn't catch it.

let's see, how does that line go?

There two many too have just to of they're kind, over their.
(They're too many to have just two of their kind, over there.)

good suggestion on line one also, but my mind wants to accent conCEALS
for some reason
How about
a LAB hides some DAta so DOur

same thought though.

28. A Whiff of Death (The Death Dealers)

a lab hides some data so dour
an experiment completed this hour
some chemicals mix
a vapor to fix
a chemist collapsed on the floor.

(whf Brian Tung)

Indeed, an excellent "straight" mystery

29. Nine Tomorrows

nine stories created by he
the master we'd all like to be
when asked to explain
in truth, not in vain
"I just make them up, - - See!"

yes, the metre is wrong in the last line, but I couldn't pass up this
quote!
so instead of the dashes just add the verbal pause, (mumble) or
(shuffle) as if he's searching for an answer, and it works

30. The Clock We Live On

months and the years are in line
even the rip'ning of wine
tick and the tock
minutes of the clock
and all is a matter of time

Sorry to be picky but

tne?

phisics?

Did you mean etymology or entomology? Although I see entymology gives 100
hits in Google including some academic sites.

If I wanted to be really picky, I'd ask if all the units in the first two
lines should start with capital letters.

This is what happens when you take up amateur proofreading.

Keep up the good work with the limericks. I'm finding them amusing.

Regards,
Peter.

That's fine.

Always good to learn things that I should have known.

Regards,
Peter.

(notice, i very rarely use caps (except in the titles of the books,
themselves), but the terms are not capitalized anyway)

positive, constructive suggestions not only accepted, but encouraged!
I'll second Brian's encouraging remark that they do make more sense if
your read the book. After all, how do you describe a complete plot and
resolution in five lines, while (attempting to) maintain poetic and
metre integrity?

Brian's suggested improvements have been very helpful!

I have to find the exact quote, but... "I reserve the right to
disregard any criticism or suggestions I do not agree with." -- Isaac
Asimov (to paraphrase, I think)

by the way, I had another thought from Peter's "picky" comments, above.
His question on the word meant my "entymology"
--- "etymology" meaning word origin and derivation
or --- "entomology" meaning the study of insects

actually, his question was very valid in that both could work within
the context of the line.
I could claim that my mistake was intentional and meant as a pun, but
(***sigh***) it wasn't.
Etymology seems to fit better with the book (as to the derivation of
the scientific terminology)

Metre and rhyme... ("scanning")
I AM trying, but often not succeeding. Brian is very helpful there.
I did state at the beginning, that metre wasn't a priority, but I think
I'm improving as I go.
I do have several more written in rough form (I need to keep well ahead
of my posting) but still need work in that area.
There may even be occassion of intentional deviation from form. For
the full effect of the book.
