Yup, it was someone, I think Paul Bines (don't quote me on that) who
directed me to it,a sking me to submit some old bit of rubbish. Here's
my somewhat meagre (in quantity and humour!) entry:
http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Edward_Van_Gemutlich (under the pseudonym,
McBumlo Many articles are disturbing(ly funny) on that site! LEt's not
go into the 'masturbation' page. The diagrams on it (of hydraulic pumps
etc) are pure genius though.

I told you not to quote me on that. Heh... It was in fact Chris
Suslowicz who originally posted the link. Here is the original context
for the whole linkage in the first place.
From: Harry (The Tailor)
Jac....RemoveThis@Bookaholics.mbl wrote:
> The Village Library also offers comfy chairs
How 'comfy' are the chairs on the Edward Van Gemütlich scale of
comfiness? The scale goes from -3.2 up to p (pi) in increments of
0.0278. He always was an awkward old todger, that Edward. The comfiest
I've ever been in was a 0.275. If you don't know the rating of the
chairs, you should contact the manufacturer immediatly. If they don't
know, and sent the boys in white coats round, hide; then, contact +49
(0)7870 480 575 and an inspector will be sent round to guage the
quality of comfiness of the chairs. If the rating is considerably below
zero, just pretend it never happened and keep it quiet. If the rating
is beyond a zero, display it for all the world to see. Your chairs
could even make a thriving tourist trade, charging people to sit,
should the rating rise above, say, a 1.5, the current record of
comfiness.
Harry, Tailor and Dodgy Dealer
(The frightening thing is, this would probably be put on Wikipedia
under 'comfiness' or something if I submitted it, and people would
believe it. Well, I'd have to edit it a bit, and I'm not going to put
it on Wiki, but it could happen. Wiki is full of so much bull as it
is...)

I trust that's not a real 'phone number....

Try "Uncyclopedia" <http://uncyclopedia.org> they'll like it.
I particularly like the entry on Saint Chav.
(Not to be confused with the entry on Chav.)

What's a cross-post filter, Chris? Does it make things go *BOOOOMPH*? C'n

What's WebTV? Do I need to know so that I can take relevant action, or
would the fact that all the TV in Abthite is delivered by lorry mean that
we don't have it here?

A bit of programming which suppresses the downoading of messages
posted to more than 'N+1' groups. Normally I set 'N' to 4, as some
messages do get posted (semi-legitimately) to 5 groups. For other
groups, it's set firmly at 0, to eliminate flooding attacks by the
more stupid spammers and trolls. I think this group now needs
either that filter, or to have AFP added to the alt.books.tom-clancy
spamkiller filter.
> Does it make things go *BOOOOMPH*?
Regrettably not, Consider it the "Hush-a-Boom" of newsgroup countermeasures.
> C'n I play, please please, c'n I play?
Again, probably not, unless the firedrake can automagically toast
crossposted messages before forwarding the good (FSVO) stuff.
