Post subject: Lost Holy Gail due to ABE listing time lag..... Archived from groups: rec>collecting>books (more info?)

When I got home Friday, I found an ABE wants email for a title I've
been searching for 15 years (since I learned of it's existence). It
would complete my first editions of everything published by H.Beam
Piper.
I called and the shop being in on East coast time was closed and not
open on weekends according to the message. I left a voice mail
requesting to be call at any hour if someone got the message and left
all my phone numbers. I then sent an email.
Saturday afternoon I called back and got the owner only to learn the
book had sold several days ago in the store but they had not removed
it for the ABE up load of titles.
He has my name and if he finds another one, he'll give me a call.
That was one the blackest days in my collecting life.

Help! I plead overwhelming ignorance. I assume the first quote does not
recommend that those who chew tibias should wait in line for small
suitcases, nor does the second state that if an alien misses the bus, we can
assume he was born into a mafia family. But if not that, what?

Recognizing is not extolling. What kind of philosophy would reject
