The figures of the Bible are often put on a high pedestal, some
viewing them as saints with no sin. But by understanding they too are
imperfect and understanding them, we may understand the word of God
more completely. "Creating Space Between Peshat & Derash: A Collection
of Studies on Tanakh" is a collection of essays from Rabbi Hayyum J.
Angel, as he presents his scholarly studies on many accepted Biblical
events. Looking at the past students of the Tanakh, challenging the
status of Israelites of the Chosen people, the failures of Moses, his
views may prove controversial, but they are endlessly fascinating and
provide much food for thought. "Creating Space Between Peshat &
Derash" is an excellent read, a core addition to any Judaic or
Religious studies collection.
