An equestrian statue might be pushing it, but how about a park bench
with a newspaper-covered bum laying down on it, empty bottles of wine
and cigar butts all around? LA City Council will be hearing from me!

Seeing a bum,
covered in Pigeon shit,
would be a fitting monument.

Albeit rude,
Bukowski would
be smiling
somewhere where
he can see us
but we cannot
see
him.

That's my guess.

There's a statue of an Italian Bukowski-type in Rome. It portrays a
drunk man lying in the grass surrounded by empty wine bottles,
cigarette butts, pigeons and garbage. It's placed in the exact same
spot where they found the guy (a poet) dead. I saw it in 1983 and I
can't remember the fucker's name.
