The Marvel rules don't follow real world rules regarding the term
"mutant". In Marvel, a mutant is a person who possesses an active
x-factor. Period. >> Stay informed about: Can anyone think of any MU villains that are Mutants |

I don't think so. Or at least it used to not be that way. I seem to
recall one of the Marvel writers in the 80s defining those who
inherited the same powers from their parents as not mutants. >> Stay informed about: Can anyone think of any MU villains that are Mutants |

Whirlwind is a mutant, but Bullseye is not. I'm not sure where that
keeps coming from, I've heard it from a bunch of people lately.
Mandrill and Nekra are mutants.
Heck, I remember when they were trying to say that everyone was a
mutant, from Spider-Man to the Hulk, that their mutant powers were
'triggered' by whatever their origin was.... >> Stay informed about: Can anyone think of any MU villains that are Mutants |

Back in the 80's, it was established that the Celestials' experiments
left a dormant potential gene in mainstream humanity. This could be
triggered by chemical (Terrigen mists) or radioactive (spider-bite)
means. "Mutants" started appearing with more frequency after WWII, as
the world's background radiation started increasing due to nuclear
tests and microwave popcorn. The concept was carried to it's extreme
limit the Earth X series. >> Stay informed about: Can anyone think of any MU villains that are Mutants |

Yes, but you can have inherited powers without having an active ex-factor.
May Parker being the first to spring to mind.
If Daddy was a mutate and I have powers too, that does NOT make me a mutant
in the MU. >> Stay informed about: Can anyone think of any MU villains that are Mutants |

My standby benchmark would be; Would a standard Sentinel target them? They
seem fairly conmpetent at identifying mutants, the Falcon to one side. >> Stay informed about: Can anyone think of any MU villains that are Mutants |

Yeah, they tried to claim Siryn had the extra power of being able to
talk while screaming. Guess what? Daddy can do it, too. Marvel
abandoned this whole idea in the 90s and went with the active x-factor. >> Stay informed about: Can anyone think of any MU villains that are Mutants |

I never said she was. Her father isn't a mutant though, and I don't recall
her ever being identified as a mutant. >> Stay informed about: Can anyone think of any MU villains that are Mutants |

What is this - an even dozen now to point this out? Does no one read
threads anymore or is there a problem with the attention spans of comic
readers? I think the OP has gotten the point now - Creel isn't a mutant.

Regarding the discussion about the Purple Man and his daughter, it's worth
mentioning that the only time Persuasion has been 'scientifically'
identified as a mutant was by a malfunctioning Sentinel in Alpha Flight #43
(which didn't register any of Alpha Flight's other mutants as such). So you
could argue that she and her father don't have the mutant gene at all. >> Stay informed about: Can anyone think of any MU villains that are Mutants |

someone claiming to be "Brian Doyle" <noone RemoveThis @nospam.com> spooned up the

The X-People have also been tracking other mutants within May's vicinity
(in and out of costume), but never given any sign of noting a second mutant
(i.e., May) in the area.

Matt, you may not realize this, but some of those posters might not
have seen anyone's post correcting the OP. Or they were posting at the
same time. Some (like myself) may respond to a post after we read
it--perhaps to make a correction--and then see afterwards that said
correction had been made by others. It has nothing to do with
attention spands. >> Stay informed about: Can anyone think of any MU villains that are Mutants |
