Hi

In which book can we read about the vampire Mael? I find something
about him at http://www.geocities.com/annericevampires/tvc_char_vampsa.html#mael
which one gave me from this forum, does Mrs Rice write about him in a
book.

another question who is the first vampire, is´t Akasha? I`ve only read
two of Mrs Rice´s books INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE and THE QUEEN OF
THE DAMNED and the movies twice, now I read The Vampire Lestat, which
I really love.

cheers!
Henrick

I've only so far read through Tale of the Body Thief, but I do remember TVL
introducing Mael. He was the druid who took Marius to the "God of the
Wood". I don't remember if the books went into the details of how he became
a vampire.

Mael's spoken of first in The Vampire Lestat, when Marius tells his story.
He appears in Queen but there's not much "about" him, he's just a part of
what's going on ... as you must already know. He shows up again very briefly
at the end of Memnoch the Devil, and then in Blood and Gold, where he is an
important character.

Yes, Akasha was the first. Keep reading! There's lots more. I still have to
finish Blackwood Farm.

like Mael to me, but then none of the characters in that film looked
as they should, save for perhaps, Akasha.

I thought Akasha was white for being made so long ago?

Not only that, but she was not black to begin with, unless her parents or
other ancestors happened to be African immigrants to Mesopotamia, where she
was born.

Gosh, I'm almost afraid to jump into the fray. While Akasha is
supposed to look like marble, she would have been darker in life as
she was from Sumeria. No matter how you cut it she was never white as
a moral. Overall, Alaleya (sorry for the misspelling) looked like
Akasha to me. One thing I can't remember in the books. When Akasha
drinks, does she get coloring like the other vamps?
Take care,

I agree that she wouldn't look white, like, say, a Norwegian, but why
wouldn't she look like a Middle Easterner? Admittedly there is a range of
physical types in the M.E., but they generally do not look like Aaliyah
(unless they're immigrants from Africa). I'm glad you found something to
like about the movie, anyway. I don't remember what happens when she drinks
either.

Thanks for answering, but I think she would have been dark. I mean, she lived
in Egypt. She probably tanned.

Well, if she was born in the Iraq area, her skin would likely be darker than
the stereotypical white person's to begin with. I don't know that moving to
Egypt would make a big difference, cause it may not be much more sunny there
anyway, and her skin might not be as sensitive as white people's. I don't
know exactly how tanning works with different skin types, but there are
certainly Egyptians nowadays who are not so tanned that they look black. Not
that you were saying she'd look black, but anyway. In the movie, she should
have had white skin, and middle eastern features.

something. But tell me, are YOU happy with the subject line you've chosen??

All people tan, but I guess you're right about the climates not being much
different. Yeah, I agree. When reading the book, I imagined her as having those
kind of features just with marble like skin.

If you don't like it, change it. It's funny. You always complain about them
being not accurate, yet never change them. Come on, Josh, I know you're not
