Beetle drew it...
The Firedrake scanned and hacked about with it...
and we nibbled around the edges so that it would fit...
50,000,000 earwigs are proud to present:
THE MAP OF THE VILLAGE!
available over networked Babbage Engines at your convenience. (The
Firedrake says you'll need "client-side image maps", but apparently even
the software he favours allows these, so most of you shouldn't have any
trouble at all.)

Wa-hey! Well done those 'wiggies!
May I ask: if I were to fish out of the various interstices of this
machinery accounts of various Events of Moment (such as the arrival of the
Giraffe) and put them into some sort of order, would there be room on the
website of the 50,000,000 for a sort of Alternative FAQ, not about Tom Holt
and his work, for that is already most adequately and excellently covered
by Nick Boalch, but about the collective mania here, otherwise

Oh yes, please do that! If the wiggies can't host it, surely someone else
will. Are there any plans for giving the names of the various features on
the Map? "Here be dragons" in the appropriate places, perhaps, among other
labels.

But Belsambar *dear*.... What sort of a *hideout* is on a *map*? you
wouldn't want just anyone turning up at your door, now would you, men in
white coats, all that hassle disposing of the corpses...
You never told me where it was, so how could I put it on the map?

The wiggies have replied privately that they and the Firedrake between them
will sort out something in the way of website space for information about
the Village as well as for the map and the list of denizens, so...
As I understand it, the idea is to have every house linked to its
inhabitant, and a list of the inhabitants (and the denizens who haven't yet
chosen houses), and click from one place to another, offering the denizens
the chance to put in links to for example pictures of important dogs like
the Werepup by their names... Not being webbed I haven't the faintest idea
what they are talking about, but it all sounds very organised.
They have all gone out drinking for the evening now, so how organised it
will be tomorrow is anyone's guess, though.
I feel a rousing chorus of "What shall we do with the drunken earwig?"
coming on.

But..but..but... I have all those wonderful traps (booby- and otherwise)
and really stupid guards who are fooled by the simplest disguise, I dress
them in coveralls (helmets included) so heroes can penetrate it, so it
needs to be on a map, doesn't it? Else how can they find it? Do you have
any idea what maintaining a good Evil Lair costs these days? At least allow
me some fun from it!

That should certainly not be a problem. There are various rumblings
about "irregular Polly" coming from the Drake's cave at the moment which
may be something to do with all of this. (Apparently she's not the shape
she ought to be, or something.)

Wohoo! BB, get these people the largest bottle of TS you can find!
Nice to see that the hutch in its nice, central placement, too...
Nicely within range of the library, and probably wiithin catapult
range of the bookshop too. I hope there's something shielding it from
the cricket pitch in the summer, though. A cricket ball to the head is
especially painful when the cricket ball is bigger than your head...
