Hi,

I am new to this group.

I have been searching the web looking for maps of the "Honorverse". I have
found several but not in the detail I am interested in.

They are all "schematic" but I am more interested in x/y coordinate system,
even better would be x/y/z coordinates.

I have been building such a map from the maps in the books and various on
the web but cannot place some "important" places. These are

Cerebus
Shilo
Danak
Seabring

I think I have a rough Idea from the times/distances in the books but I
would rather have hard numbers.

Has anyone come across such a map.

I suppose Mr. Weber has one but....

Thanks,

Paul

Good luck! Remember that David Weber comes from a gaming background,
and has created the Honorverse using the "schematic" style maps.
That, coupled with the fact that transit utilizing wormhole junctions
makes an "XYZ" co-ordinate system less important, makes me doubt if
you will have much luck in your quest.

On the other hand, fans of C. J. Cherryh's works have created a
program called "Cherry Viewer" that allows viewing of "XYZ" star maps
that can be rotated along any axis. These maps can be customized, and
would be wonderful if they could be adapted to the Honorverse.

Problem is, time spent in travel, is not nescisarily proportional to
nspace distance, and may not even be consistant from trip to trip as
it is highly dependent on grav wave geometry (some of which drift
rather quickly), and the skill of navigator, quality of the ship and
amount of risk accepted by the captain (aka, how high up the bands
they are willing to go).

So, even when we do have a tight lock on how long a journey took, we
have no idea as to the distance. A good chunk of the distances we do
have are for wormhole termini, which don't seem to be given triangular
distances all that often (distances between the nexus and the termini
are given, but a lot of the distances from termini to termini aren't)<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

You should have a Look at the following Link:

At the download-section of the site you will find a offline version of the
map.
btw, all is in german

Pat,

I did not know David Weber had that background but thanks for the info.

I would have thought that he had some kind of distance map to keep huis head
straight when going places.

I realize that the travel times vary but, from what I read, although the
elements that you mention do alter the time, the absolute distance does make
a difference i.e. Take the distance then add your variables.

Thanks, I looked at the site and it is great. However, I do not speak any
German so can not work out how to ask the author for the underlying data.

GryMor,

Thanks, see my reply to Pat above.

Thank you all for your replies,

Are there any maps of the Honorverse (schematic or otherwise) that include the
new Manticore wormhole nexus exit and the wormhole exits mentioned in _Crown of
Slaves_? The maps I have seen are all based on information from several books
ago.
