I think this sums up my Christmas wish nicely (I'm not sure who the
author is or I'd give them credit here)

THE GREAT INVOCATION

 >From the point of Light within the Mind of God
Let light stream forth into the minds of men.
Let Light descend on Earth.

 >From the point of Love within the Heart of God
Let love stream forth into the hearts of men.
May Christ return to Earth.

 >From the centre where the Will of God is known
Let purpose guide the little wills of men -
The purpose which the Masters know and serve.

 >From the centre which we call the race of men
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out.
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.
Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.

Merry Christmas to all! ( day late, but I was rather busy...)

There's a great poem that's part of a holiday theatrical show around
here called 'The Christmas Revels.' They've resurrected some very
interesting medieval and Renassaisance material and created a show of
songs and stories. This poem was written for the show. it's called 'The
Shortest Day,' by Susan Cooper (who lives just down the road, in Cambridge)

And so the shortest day came
And the year died
And all around the centuries of the snow-white world
Came people singing, dancing to keep the year alive
They lighted candles in the winter trees
They hung their homes with evergreens
They burned beseeching fires all night long
To keep the year alive
And when the new day's sunshine blazed awake,
They shouted, revelling.
Through all the frosty ages, you can hear them, echoing, behind us.
Listen.
All the long echoes sing the same delight
This shortest day
As promise wakens in the sleeping land
They carol, feast, give thanks, dearly love their friends
And hope for peace.
And so do we, here, now, this year and every year.
Welcome Yule!

blessed be, Julianne

Wonderful poem!
I didn't know Susan Cooper had done poetry, apart from the stuff in The

Julianne, just getting a chance to review the December posts now and
had to write. Years ago when my kids were small, I borrowed from my
local library branch a recording of The Christmas Revels; we loved it
and taped it to play it year after year until we wore the tape out!
This year, I bought it on CD for my daughter Tegan and she was
thrilled. (She even plays it in her car!) It's a Christmas staple
around our house beginning on Thanksgiving. And I love that poem.
With that purchase, I've only now learned that the Revels is a live,
ongoing show, year after year.

And totally off topic but as a proud mom I just have to share Tegan's
website with the group--in spring, 2003, she graduated from Moore
College of Art cum laude with a BFA in Illustration. Visit her site at
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.illusoryart.com/" target="_blank">http://www.illusoryart.com/</a>
As part of her final senior show she did two illustrations (oils on
canvas board) from DR (that are unfortunately not on the site yet),
Morgan, Kelson and the stenrect (yeah, I know, but she picked it) and
Jehana lashing out at Charissa. (Her fiance and his brother modeled
for Morgan & Kelson; fiance Tony is nearly perfect for Kelson, with
poker-straight black hair and blue-gray eyes. His brother, John,
however, had no idea he would be transformed into a blond!)

And a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year to All and Sundry!

Diane,

Tell Tegan to get those illustrations on her website pronto! =o)I
checked out her other work while I was there--very nice stuff. I
especially liked the tiger and elephant stamp illustrations.

Thanks, Melissa, she was happy to hear that. Learned the reason the DR
paintings aren't up on the site--she was pretty stressed out during her
father's illness and some projects stalled, then got rushed.
Consequently, she wasn't happy with them. She did two more in
watercolor(your medium, I think!) that she never quite finished,
Morgan, Duncan & Kelson and the transference of power(which I *really*
like), and the duel arcane with Charissa. I like them, and she's
promised me a reworking of all of them to include all on the website.

Melissa,

But *I* need it a little more instanteously! ;~)
Seriously, I've been "cleaning out" the studio/sewing room and promised
her a clear path to the drawing table so that she can work. If I do
that, she'll work on DR illustrations.
