Washington Post journalist Michael Dirda has been mentioned here a few
times recently for his interest in weird and ghostly tales. So just a
heads up... Next month will see the release of two books by Dirda, his
memoir in hardcover, AN OPEN BOOK, as well as the paperback edition of
READINGS which presents 46 of his Washington Post book columns,
including the fascinating "The Quest for Scrivener" which details the
round-about path he took to falling in love (prompted by reading E. F.
Bleiler on the book, then talking to him in person about it) with
Claude Houghton's weird novel I AM JONATHAN SCRIVENER--this is a story
every book-hound will love.

Thanks for the heads-up, Adam. I meant to read *Readings* when it
first came out, but kept forgetting about it whenever I happened to be
browsing in a bookstore. Now I can save some money by getting the pb.
