Like that's ever stopped you, Will. With the way you post, it's obvious
you're ALWAYS a 'gazillion miles' from Shadowville.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Well, where you're living, it's very probable they'll be back
around... I think you're probably well aware, from me, Follicle, and
others, that's it's a safe wager that there's a handbasket's chance in
Hell of these guys showing up in Shadowville, where the most
interesting thing for a poet to do is get in a fistfight. *grin*

There is a keen awareness of guys like Jim Morrison and Jack Kerouac
being the real giants of poetry here, though. I have to admit I've had
a hand in nudging the public conciousness along in that direction.
*wink*

The link, somewhere in this post, has a page of McClure's recent work,
and he's on top of his game, for sure, maybe even the best living poet
of the day:

BLACK WINE
YEAH I LOVE YOU MAMA, I'M GONNA DRINK BLACK WINE
Well, I love you Mama
I'm gonna drink black wine
Going put my hairy hands
on the table
Gonna hold the broken cup
and drink black wine

We come from no place
and I'm going there all the time
Crickets singing in the evening
Chirping in the darkest time

I hear you telling me
I hear you telling me
Saying I gotta go
We gotta go when the crickets singing

Hairy hands on the table
holding the blackest wine

Crickets singing in the evening
Chirping in the darkest time
There's a drum out there
in the sunlight
There's a drum out there
in the sunlight
but crickets sing in the evening
chirping in the darkest time

Well I love you Mama
I'm gonna drink black wine

Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah
Oh Yeah

Thanks in part, of course, to the mentally incompetent deviants that work at
Pizza Roma.

You couldn't nudge a total stranger in a crowded subway car, Will.
