Kudos to Peter for directing griffins to drop stones on the witch's
army! However, IMHO, he should have ordered them to start dropping the
stones the moment he spied the witch's army (so that there would be time
for a second stone dropping run!), instead of waiting for a few minutes
so that his army could yell at her army. Also, he should have had
several griffins concentrate on dropping stones directly ON the witch!

Why didn't Peter have Talking Moles dig pits in between the witch's army
and his army?

As for the witch's army, why didn't that ox general order the giants to
throw stones back at Peter's army? Why weren't the witch's bat friends
participating in the battle?

More questions (not that I really paid that much attention to the book
or the movie): Why meeting her troups on the open field at all, Peter's
army definitely had the terrain advantage in those hills. A few
oil-fire traps, some pits (as suggested above), and maybe fire bombs
(molotov cocktail / burning oil jars) dropped on the enemy instead of
stones...
The witch would have lost half her army just trying to climb the
hill...

But then, of course, Peter and the gang wouldn't have been the "Good"
guys if they actually fought to really win the battle Razz

The shock effect of seeing rocks falling from the sky was probably
greater than the actual casualties, so better to hit them while they're
still distracted.

They were nocturnal?

That's really the point. Besides, most of that stuff is just for the
cool factor, not because it made sense. When you get right down to it,
very little of that film was logical. But that's what goofing around
using fantasy as metaphor gets you.

But couldn't Queen Jadis order her bats to fight in daytime, or arrange to
attack Peter's army at night so that the bats could participate?

Does Narnia have any oil?

One of Peter's centaurs did fire a fire arrow... at a phoenix, which proceeded
to blow up in front of the witch's army. Why didn't Peter's troops fire any
fire arrows at the witch's troops as they climbed the hill?

Possibly because he had to wait for the Pevensie children to enter Narnia so
that they could rule it after the White Witch's death.

Near the end of the movie, the White Witch's army attacks Peter's army.

1 Hour 48 Minutes 12 Seconds into the movie: The head of the first enemy
soldier (the Minotaur general) appears over some rocks.

1 Hour 48 Minutes 27 Seconds: Rest of army appears on screen, is
marching forward.

1 Hour 49 Minutes 19-28 Seconds: At Peter's signal (lowering his sword),
his army yells and shake their weapons.

1 Hour 49 Minutes 40 Seconds: The Witch's army begins their attack run.

1 Hour 50 Minutes 19 Seconds: Peter gives the signal to the griffins to
begin their rock dropping run.

Why didn't Peter send the rock dropping griffins the moment the witch's
army appeared, instead of waiting over two minutes so that his army
could yell at her army? Why didn't Peter have several griffins
concentrate on dropping stones directly ON the witch?

Why didn't Peter have Talking Moles dig pits in between the witch's army
and his army?

As for the witch's army, why didn't that Minotaur general order the
giants to throw stones back at Peter's army? Why weren't the witch's
bat friends participating in the battle? Surely, Jadis would consider
winning the battle more important than letting the bats nap!

Why did Peter have his army yell at hers before sending in the griffins? Why
not have both the yelling and rock dropping happen simultanously? Why not
drop rocks directly on the witch in hopes of killing her and thus destroying
her army's morale?

When the trees relayed to Peter and Edmund their sisters' message about the
death of Aslan, why didn't Peter have the trees tell Susan and Lucy to return to
camp so that Susan could use her bow in the battle?

Why weren't more fire arrows used?

Yeah, Peter has all the tactical and strategic prowess of a
twelve-year-old.

Okay, have several griffins drop rocks in the area containing the witch's
chariot, in the hopes that at least one rock will score.

Before allowing himself to be stabbed by the White Witch, why didn't
Aslan tell Peter and Edmund to tell their troops to break her wand at

When Edmund got the idea of breaking the witch's wand, why didn't he
tell any of his troops about that idea (as a hedge against him failing
to break the wand)?
