I am currently reading this novel and I am amazed how well it is
written. I am not saying that Dick's sci-fi novels are badly written.
The Man in the High Castle and The Scanner Darkly are very good in terms
of language and style. However overall his style is very often a sort of
slipshod. Also he sometimes leaves loose ends as if he forgot about
them. But In Milton Lumky Territory is very carefully written, a real
gem. I guess Dick might have more time and more ambitions when he was
writing it.

be aware that it is a mainstream novel, not sci-fi

Thanks again. I thought I had pretty much read all his works, so it
will be a treat to get this one.
