There's a lot more to it than what Alan said here (and I'm not sure Alan's
is even quite correct).
The early part of the book is very philosophical and difficult. Some of the
chapters around the middle iirc might be easier and more interesting. It
would be the ones that are really about the New Testament miracles.
I'm sorry I don't have the book handy to be more specific.

Chapters I-VIII are worth studying as in these chapters Lewis makes his case
(as he does in many other of his works) against what he calls Naturalism as
a total explanation of the way things work- Naturalism as the "total system"
and everything is contained in "Nature" ; nothing is "Supernatural". Lewis
argument up to this point can be summarized: "She [Nature] is not the whole
of reality, but only a part;..."
This discussion, of course, is basic to understanding Lewis' arguments for
miracles- and the Grand Miracle, the Incarnation.

As we have seen in this newsgroup, _Miracles_ is unlikely to convince the
hardest bitten Naturalists; the book, however, especially the latter
chapters imo, offer some of the best modern Christian apologetics ever
written.
If you believe the Christian explanation of reality (i.e.. The Good News)
but haven't a clue as to how to express it, or what the
theological/philosophical underpinnings of your belief may be, then here's
the place to explore the theology. Lewis is the master teacher.
If, on the other hand, you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior above
all, then you _need_ nothing more. This book will be for you a pleasant
read written by a friend, Jack Lewis, of like mind.
BTW, _Miracles_ is published in many languages. Call a good bookstore to
find out which ones.
Blessings,
Ann >> Stay informed about: Miracles |

I'd like to thank you all for nice suggestions and explanation. It seems to
me that Lewis provided an excellent insight to see the difference between
'natural' and 'supernatural' in this book. But, unfortunately, I can
understand his logic only a part, say 30% just because his English is very
difficult for me.
Again, thank you all and please put more help if you have.

My mother language is Korean. We have eight books of CS Lewis in Korean
version, not yet "Miracles".
Thanks, AJA.

I have a Chinese friend in London whose wife reads many books. She is from H.K.
and I am going to London on Saturday to demonstrate, and assuming they don't
arrest us all, I could call round to see him, and ask her if she knows if they
print them in Chinese. I do admit that I haven't seen them for some time, and to
be quite honest, the way things are going under this government it would not
surprise me if they had returned to the Far East. I also have another friend in
H.K. who might know such things, but she is not likely to have read any
C.S.Lewis. I'll e-mail her now and ask her, but she is very busy and might not
reply for a couple of weeks.
Is that O.K.?
Regards

Thank you for your consideration, but I speak Korean not Chinese.
You don't need to ask your friend.

Plus I have a friend working at a big book company in Alabama so I asked her as
well. She usually answers very quickly.
