Does anyone remember this one? Came out in 1985 (I think) and put out
by Mindscape. I have a version of it somewhere, most likely in a bxo
in my parent's crawlspace. My version is for the Apple II and came on
5.25 floppies. I never really had a chance to play it much as I never
owned an Apple II, I just used the ones in my HS. I would like to
play with it now, even though it's text based (like Zork!), just for
the fun of it. However, I don't own any 5.25 floppy drives, nor an
Apple II.

Any ideas on what can be done to make this possible?

Thanks,
Mike

What does this have to do with SKing? You could at least put the
obligatory "OT" in the subject line.

The game was based on the Stephen King story, "The Mist".

I don't remember Mist (was more of a Myst fan, myself), but there are a
number of Apple II Emulators out there (especially if you have a Mac!)
which can play older software. Try <a rel="nofollow" style='text-decoration: none;' href="http://www.emulation.net." target="_blank">www.emulation.net.</a>

It's completely ON topic, fool. How can you be a fan of SK and not
know the short story "The Mist"? It was published in _Skeleton_Crew_
in 1985.

Sheesh.

It's probably available out there in Cyberspace, along with an emulator to
have an Apple II on your very own PC.

In fact...
loads of emulators at these places...

Name calling is very childish....I did read Skeleton Crew...but that was
a very long time ago...and I do remember the short story....I just didnt
remember the name. and I didnt connect the game with the story.

You are in luck. Go to this website:

http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?id=1065

Nice website for defunct games that no one cares about anymore. And having
played The Mist on Windows XP, I know you can run it without emulation on a
PC. The game itself is a little unintuitive (I had to use the hint section a
bit), but it's loyal to the story. Personally, I'd have gone with a graphic
adventure, but text-games were all the rage for a while.

been pointed out...and I understand.
But thank you for repeating this information, you know, just in case I

I tried it and it worked on the first shot. Boy, those old games were
fussy!

They want you to do one thing and one thing only, it seems. Otherwise, it
just comes back with a useless answer.

I liked my Intellivision better! Doug
