When Mr. Beaver bursts back into his home to warn Mrs. Beaver that the
White Witch's minions were on their way, he yells to her "Hurry Mother,
they're after us!". Why is he calling his wife "Mother"?

I did the same with my wife, she was the mother of my child, my
daughter called her mother so I did as well, there wasn't any
confusion.

I did not see any evidence that the Beavers had any children, so Mr Beaver
would not have any reason to call his wife "Mother" on that score.

They were elderly beavers, likely the kids had moved out, the Mother
was just a habit.
Prima facie evidence of children Smile

I remember lots of country people doing that (US Texas), and it sounds
right for some country people in England. Occasionally some couple would do
it even if they didn't have children. (Hm, see the Dimbles in THS.)

What puzzled me was Mr. Beaver saying mean things to Mrs. Beaver, making
fun of her cooking etc. That sure wasn't in the book, and I wonder why they
added it?

From the way they were moving, I thought they were relatively young.

I heard Mrs. Beaver imply that Mr. Beaver was uncivilized.

And Mrs. Beaver accusing Mr. Beaver of overeating.

However, I did not see any beaver kids in that house, so there would seem no
reason to call Mrs. Beaver "Mother".

When Mr. Beaver brought the Pevensies home, Mrs. Beaver complained that she
wasn't given any warning. Why didn't Mr. Beaver have a small bird warn his
wife?
