Sorry to hear about your parent's nation being divided.
"Death is like changing cars" - John Lennon
"We all shine on like the moon and stars and the sun" - John Lennon

Couldn't think of an appropriate KV quote, so I offer you these.

she had Parkinson's and was not doing well the last couple years... She was
my dad's "love of his life" for 57 years. And they were truly a Nation of
Two. He used to come home to her for lunch everyday when he was working....
The night before she died I asked how they met and he told me a story. We
both enjoyed the moment.

She is going to be buried in a cemetery two block from where I live...
Never imagined my mom would be two blocks from where I live... I'm not
really close to my dad, but I will visit her with him. I know it is going
to be difficult for him.

I've been listening to Harrison's "Art of Dying" and "Hear me Lord"... Sad,
but helps.

I don't know why but I just called my nephew to go to the Unitarian Chuch.
My niece had said yesterday he doesn't like to go alone... And then I
called my dad to check that he was going to come over to watch the
Denver--Pittsburg game. (I'm not really a big fan of football, but thought
it would be good to get together with him and my nephew. Maybe we will get
pizza.)

I'm not sure why, but you helped motivate me to do this. Thanks.

What goes on at a Unitarian Church? How does it differ from a regular
church?
I know KV is a Unitarian and I know he is a freethinker, so I am
curious what a Unitarian church meeting would be like... I am an
atheist, myself.

suffice it to say, you would be welcome. As would pretty much anyone
else... Hell, there was a homeless many at the study group before the
service I went to. (It was on Global Warming.)

Service is similar to any Christian service, but sometimes there is actual
laughing out loud--never had that in Catholic Churches I went to growing up.
Some have question and answers or time for people to just make
comments--sort of like Quakers, but with less meditation.

I think Vonnegut in his later years has called himself a non-practicing
Unitarian, but has been one at times and speaks occasionally at ones. Each
congregation is a bit different than others, some more traditional than
others... interesting people though!
