Well, Liefeld says a lot of things.
Seriously - the man's track record on this sort of thing is appalling.

Heroes Reborn Cap? If you look at the art in it, you can see
how he managed. :p
Surely every woman washes dishes by standing as if they are being
arrested. (Legs apart, leaning forward with hands on the hood of

We'd still get shafted. Pay for a book and get half the story?
(or are you still offering to buy the book for us?)
Hmm... and what's it cost for us to mail Finland (isn't that where you are)?

This is true, the rot had set in well before XF, but it was a singular
irritating disembowelling of a concept.

I keep trying to get into that, but it just doesn't grab me. It seems to
mean well, but it's been too long a set up, not enough of a payoff with the
characters.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Nicieza X-Force returns in September! |

Forgive my cynicism, but what Rob says and what is the truth are frequently
very dissimilar things...
He also says he's done three of twelve, while Marvel say the series is 6-8
issues, so someone somewhere hasn't done their sums, or is just talking
crap.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Nicieza X-Force returns in September! |

I still have to give the nod to DP7, but Psi-Force came in second.
Also, sorry, I worded that poorly.
I was annoyed at Cable.
I was also annoyed at the dismantling of the New Mutants to make way for
X-Force.
I never liked Cable at all. This was around the time I slowly dropped out
of comics altogether, and I kinda rolled my eyes at Cable, not finding any
interest in him at all. My opinion of him really hasn't changed any.
While the time immediately before New Mutants was rebooted was pretty bad
too, I liked the title and I wanted it to remain, I didn't want them to go
all militant and most of the characters being replaced by a bunch of new
ones. I would rather have gotten a new writer on the book and have it
remain as it was. Or even if they had to change names (which I can sort
of understand from a business standpoint), to get a different writer for
it and remain New Mutants in spirit.

Which, as others are pointing out, is a bit of an additional selling
point as far as I'm concerned.
I want more X-Force, and I'm looking forward to this - but with
Liefeld as something to be just borne with, rather than *wanted* on

Perhaps the better 'phrase' to use might be, "There is nothing more
destructive than doing the wrong thing well." Some things Rob can do
pretty well, but other things seem to be horrible--made even more so
by the fact that he seems pretty damn good at making them look so bad.
Personally, looking at the few images at the link, I think Rob is a
decent enough artist, I've seen a lot better being published and a lot
worse. The pin-up image looks bad, IMO, but the two comic page images
of Sam and Cable/Shatterstar seem pretty good for Rob. I'll probably
mark myself by saying this, but in the early 90s I was a big Rob fan
(a comment which instantly has folks saying, "Okay, your opinion on
artwork is no longer relevant."), but I also think the Brett Blevins
was a decent enough artist (Again, "Your opinion on artwork is no
longer relevant.") on the NM before Rob came along if only because his
somewhat goofy style seemed to fit with the NM, IMO.
I think Rob falls into the catagory of "If they were just a LITTLE
better, they'd be a LOT better." If Rob could pull back a bit on the
proportions (and draw muscles smaller than basketballs), then I'm
almost 100% certain his drawings would look a lot better on the whole.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Nicieza X-Force returns in September! |

I actually don't think this is a bad idea at all. For starters, it's only a
mini-series. It's got Fabian, which is always a plus in my book. It also
brings back a few x-characters who've been in character limbo for a long
while, and lets us know where they are right now. The only negative is Rob,
and I've kind of grown fond of him over the years. Yeah, he sucks, but he
just keeps on going and going, despite his lack of talent and his legion of
naysayers.. You've gotta admire that persistence! Finally, I quite enjoyed
early X-Force. It wasn't high art, low art, or any kind of art. But it was
certainly exciting, and energetic, and it just oozed with the enthusiasm
that the creators had for it. It's something of a guilty pleasure.
