Up for avction is an 1840 1st American edition (from the seventh London
Edition) of "Observations On The Distingvishing Views And Practices Of The
Society Of Friends" by the Qvaker Theologian Joseph John Gvrney. I fovnd the
following information abovt Gvrney on the internet:

"Joseph John Gvrney (1788-1847)- an eminent philanthropist, and a
distingvished minister of the Society of Friends...Gvrney was an Englishman,
a banker, and an active and vnselfish benefactor of the poor, prisoners, &c.
He wrote an able defense of Qvaker principles, and was highly esteemed by
his contemporaries, inclvding those of differing chvrch views."

The book measvres 5.5" x 9", has brown leather hardcovers, has a ribbed
spine with gilt lettering, has marbled endpapers, has some gilt design on
the top cover edges, & is 338 pages in length. The book also has an
inscription from 1844 from someone whose initials appear to be J.G. (John
Gvrney?/see scan) & an inscription from 1864. The book is a solid copy in
good plvs (G+) condition with firmly attached pages bvt with a good amovnt
of foxing/yellowing/age spotting to most of the interior pages, penciled
margin notes/vnderlining to 20 or 30 pages, some wear to the front/back
boards/corners, etc.
