I noticed that the Easterlings we saw entering the black gate in the TT
movie are never seen again and are not in ROTK. Why did PJ show them in TT
if he didn't intend to use them later in ROTK? What role did the
Easterlings play in the ROTK book, if any?

Shile they weren't featured with specific shots in the battle before
Minas Tirith, someone posted frames that show that they were in the
battle scenes.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Were they Easterlings entering the Black Gate? I always thought they were some
of the Southrons.

In the book an army of Easterlings marches from the black gate to the lonely
mountain and make war on the dwarves and men of dale.
Its just a diversionary force though. To prevent the dwarves and dale men
from sending a force to aid Gondor or Lorien.

As for the movie. I remember seeing some production shots of Easterlings and
orcs marching and fighting together. Maybe they will feature in the extended
ROTK version of the battle of pelinor fields..

yeap - at theonering.net

I have another question - why were the Easterlings travelling up the
road from Ithilien and not from the East?

Also - we saw the Haradrim and their Mumakhil, what about the men from
Khand and the Variags.

I would have loved to have seen cut-aways to action elsewhere in
Middle Earth at the same time... the attack on Lorien three times by
the orcs of Dol Goldur and their eventual ruin by a bunch of Ents sent
by Fangorn stopping them from Entering Rohan.

The attack on Dale and the Lonely Mountain by the Easterlings.

The host of Elves from Thranduil's realm meeting Galadriel and
Celeborn's host as they lay-bare the pits of Dul Goldur and reclaim
Mirkwood as Eryn Lasgalen.

I think the Woodmen and the Beornings had some part in it too Smile

All wishful thinking - it'd turn into a 6 hour movie - which I'd still
sit and watch.

ROTK EXT ED - Hi all, I apologise if this has been asked before - but I've been away for a bit. Does anyone know the release date for the extended edition of the ROTK and is their any information on what scenes have been extended/altered from the cinematic release...

Just seen ROTK - I came out with tears in my eyes. This film was superbly executed and I wouldn't have it any other way. My only gripe two gripes was no scouring of the shire. No face off between Gandalf and Saruman. I hope this is addressed in the EE. -- ChrisC -..

Any news on RotK:EE? - This DVD title was originally supposed to be out in August but it's been put off to December as has been discussed. Is there any news on it, does anyone know if it's ready yet? Are there any scenes we definitely know will be in there? BR, -JJ

ROTK EE teaser - Sorry if someone else posted this. http://users.lvcm.com/zed22/rotk.mov

RotK spoiler - They're not including the Houses of Healing? How the hell are they going to explain what happened to Eowyn? She met another guy and eloped? (Not my problem as I won't be seeing the movie, nyah nyah nyah). Tsar Parmathule
