And you've marked yourself as a complete hypocrite by crying that I snipped

No. You confirmed that you had not read my message before replying to it in the
snipped part of your message. Between that and your *hilarious* claim that it
was more believable for someone to run the length of a city while on flame than
to immolate themselves on a pyre, I did you a great favor by not quoting (or
commenting on) your foolishness.

No Justin, you're incorrect yet again. First off, I read your message, the
whole thing---I simply didn't feel it was worth quoting in its entirety. It
seems to be a blow to your self-esteem when anyone snips part of your
message, but that's the fact, bub.
I never made any claim that anything was more "believable" so now you're
simply pulling things from your ass.
You don't really seem to HAVE any argument with respect to this issue and
are simply trying to state over and over and OVER that you're correct and,
more offensively, that anyone who disagrees with you must be illiterate or
ignorant.
Sorry Justin, the world doesn't work that way. >> Stay informed about: ROTK: Yuck |

A sadly literal interpretation of Gandalf's line "so passes Denethor,
the last Steward of Gondor" (or something similar).
In the /book/, Gandalf is talking about Denethor's death. In the
/film/, he is talking about Denethor's imitation of a ball of fire
/passing down the hall/.

I enjoyed it as well. Despite the oddities, quirks, and omissions, it
covered the material and hit all the high points. Well, the
pre-Scouring high points anyway.
And I think that, assuming that showing four weddings was considered a
bit much (especially since Faramir's bride's entire family is missing
from the film), picking the Sam/Rosie wedding as the one to show was
very nice.

People on fire cannot run the length of a city. Having them do so in a movie is
either intentionally or unintentionally hilarious. Why are you having
difficulties with this concept?

No. I accused you of an inability to read English because you keep posting
complete non sequiturs. On further consideration, your continued habit of
deliberately snipping the parts of a message which make your non sequiturs
obvious rather raises this behavior from stupidity to deliberate deception.
Which is, of course, just stupidity of another kind.

Perhaps because Denethor DIDN'T run the length of the city, but only across
a single courtyard.

One should point out that the city is designed as a spiral, and the
promontory with the courtyard cuts from the middle to the edge, i. e. the
radius at that point..

One could point that out, but they'd be wrong. The city is designed as a
semi-circle, with the road up doubling back on itself.

You were not paying attention. Go see the movie again. He did not run down
the road. He ran down the length of the promontory and leaped off of the
edge. The promontory cut accross the road.

And I'm sure in your universe the words "off the cliff" are synonymous with
"down the road". In this universe, however, we're forced back to a simple
conclusion:
You can't read English.

Even if he were running along the big piece of rock bisecting the
upper six circles, it is still quite a ways to run, and then jump off
and fly over the remaining circle? As I haven't actually *seen* it
yet, I can't be sure, but to judge from y'all's decriptions, the whole
scene sounds pretty damn retarded.
Why not, youknow, do something where he's holding on to the palantir
and the flames quickly, little to quickly than is realistic (but it
would still be rather boring to sit there and watch his corpse slowly
burn) consume him.
Some of the changes I can understand somewhat, things to thin down the
plot and make it easier for the movie going masses to get, but from
the start of TT to (i fear) the end of RoTK, the comic releif and -why
the hell did they change that- scenes are simply out of control. >> Stay informed about: ROTK: Yuck |
