Philip K. Dick is one of my favorite authors to read when I can't
afford drugs. I have a list of about a hundred books by various
authors that I use to catch a buzz on. Greg Egan, Robert Anton Wilson,
Clifford Pickover, various philosophers, and several others, all have
the ability to put my mind into an altered state. It's wonderful! And
best of all there's no downside like there is with drugs. It's the
best of both worlds.

And the master of that particular genre, the late Robert Sheckley.
