If anyone else is still interested in helping me develop PUB456 please let me
know as I have room for several more. All you have to do is use the program
and give me weekly feedback about what you like, don't like, etc. Comments
can be made privately or via a message board on the web site.

PUB456 is a web-based version of PUB123 (www.adams-blake.com). Nothing to
download or install. It's all online... order entry, inventory,
billing/invoicing, royalties, reports, finance, etc.

For those who agree to actively participate, I will give a free year of
service. At present we plan to charge $9.95 a month for the service.

If you are interested, let me know privately at:
acanton RemoveThis @mindspring.com

and I'll send you a login and password.

Thanks,

Al Canton

From what I understand its an accounting program. Similar to Quicken but
specific for publishers. Best simple answer I can give as a I understand it.
I know the guy who designed it, is on this list.

I kind of thought I did. I won't use bandwidth here or people will think I'm
advertising it. Go to <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.adams-blake.com" target="_blank">www.adams-blake.com</a> and see our desktop 123 version.
456 is the same thing but it's run on the web and paid for via a monthy
subscription.

Actually the guy who designed it FOUNDED this list. And to this day I'm still
amazed how large it has grown. I actually started it as a "replacement" for
several listservs... but the people on those lists did not want to migrate
over to Usenet. But this list started to grow and has taken on a life and
"culture" of it's own, which is nice to see.

Somewhere there are some archives that contain the original postings to
create the alt. group and the first postings from people who first joined. I
wonder where they are. I'd love to see some of them again. I remember writing
to all of the major news feed and hosting firms to carry this group but it
was not for several months that there was good propagation. From then it just
sort of took off on it's own... and here we all are... what is it... six
years later?
