I like the nod to obtaining an ancient signed copy of Raft by Stephen
Baxter. From what I have read so far, it very much reminds me of Dan
Simmons, Hyperion Cantos. Example there is a vast AI system. There are
wormholes between worlds aka farcasters. I'm only a quarter of the way
in and am enjoying it immensely. Can't really see the enemy yet,
Silfen? The High Angel? What is at the Dyson Pair?

I shall read on.

Thanks Pete enjoying it so far.

John Gardner's "Grendel" Good quick read (spoiler) - The book was first published in 1971. John Gardner has died. For some reason I began seeing several suggestions for this book in different magazines and newspapers so I gave it a go. Very interesting. A rather short, fast read. Grendel is the..
