LEGENDARY ROCKER PATTI SMITH SET TO PLAY BENEFIT FOR HENRY MILLER
MEMORIAL LIBRARY IN CARMEL, CA. AUGUST 22, 2004.

(Big Sur,Ca) Aug 3, 2004. The Henry Miller Memorial Library has
announced that Columbia recording artist Patti Smith will play a
benefit concert August 22, 2004 at the newly renovated Sunset Center
in Carmel, Ca.

Proceeds will benefit Henry Miller Memorial Library, Hospice of San
Francisco and Hospice of Monterey.

Leave the conventions to the Democrats and Republicans. In fact,
leave convention behind!
Join us in welcoming a true American 'patriot act' - the First lady
of rock-n-roll poet/rocker Patti Smith and her amazing Band.

Affectionately referred to as the "godmother of punk rock" Smith's
iconic career spans thirty years and nine releases. Merging "the
spoken power of the word" with the sensual rhythms of rock-n-roll she
burst on to the music scene in the mid 1970's. Smith scored a Top Ten
hit in 1978, "Because the Night", co-written with Bruce Springsteen.
After a hiatus in the 80's to raise a family she returned to music
full force by 1994. Her latest effort, "Trampin" was released to
critical acclaim in March 2004.

Library is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to
preserving the legacy of the great American writer,Henry Miller. The
Library also brings valuable cultural events to the Big Sur and
