| Just after Edmund was rescued, Peter wanted Edmund, Susan, and Lucy to
go back to Earth. During the climatic battle, when all seemed lost,
Peter ordered Edmund to take the sisters and go back home. How in the
world did Peter expect his siblings to explain his absence?

Here's a similar question: If Edmund et al had returned to Earth without
Peter, how would they have explained their absence to their parents? >> Stay informed about: Peter Sending His Siblings Back To Earth |

Their parents would not have noticed their absence, as time in our world
passes at a different rate, and no matter how long they spent in Nania,
practically no time had elapsed in our world. But if they returned without
Peter, his absence would presumably be noticed.
The real conundrum woudl be, if Peter had remained longer in Narnia, and then
returned, to which "present" in our world would he return -- the "present" in
which the others had returned, in which case his disappearance would be
forgotten, or the present in which the others had missed him for several days
or more.
