Well it looks like I was right about Emma being somehow related to the
Cuckoos, but I think its rather lame instead of them being clones they
all were created just with her eggs.

I wonder who Pops is, anyway. Could be Scott.

It's the only way that they could have her related to them (which I
expected too by the way) that makes any kind of sense...if they were
just clones, they would look exactly like her (instead of just
similar) and everyone (particularly Emma herself) would have figured
it out sooner...I don't see anything lame about it...at least their
not her and Scott's daughters from an alternate future...THAT would be
lame.

Odd that the Cuckoos look like Emma post plastic surgery though eh?
Smile Would have been a whole 'nother story if they had inherited the
brunette plain jane genes from Emma.
I think I would have preferred the slightly altered clones (ala
Madelyne Pryor) where they arent identical but have a striking
resemblance.
Im thinking Sublime as the male donor. Though given their data
processing proclivity, Garabed Bashur (Black Box/Commcast) might be an
interesting choice as well.

Can somebody explain what the deal is for somebody who isn't reading
the series and doesn't mind having it being spoiled?

Personally I hate the idea of them being clones/daughters/alternature
future reality time travellers or whatever. We have enough of those!
Can't they be a set of horrible little mutant triplets (or quins) that
Emma took under her wing without her being tied to them, with their own
unique backstory...? Sometimes I hate the incestuous nature of the
x-books...

Okay... (don't read further unless you want spoilers... blah blah)

Way back during the Dark Phoenix Saga, Jean laid the smack down on
Emma, putting her in a coma. While Emma was in a coma, many of her eggs
were taken from her. Those eggs were used by Weapon Plus to create
hundreds or thousands of Cuckoos (as Weapon XIV). At the moment,
Sublime and Phoenix are fighting each other through the 5 Cuckoos we
know and love (or hate).

Oh, and the reason no one discovered this before is because the Cuckoos
were able to place mental suggestions in all of the X-Men so they
wouldn't ask questions (I'm not so keen about this part). I guess this
also explains why no one asked questions when the Cuckoos rapidly aged
and grew shortly after coming to the mansion (in their first
depictions, they're of varying heights and ages, but now they're
exactly alike).

This story really hasn't added a whole lot to the Cuckoos that were
didn't already know.
We knew they were created by the Weapon Plus program.
We knew they looked an awful lot like Emma.

We just didn't know there were thousands of more Cuckoos in tubes, and
we didn't know they were cybernetic mutants. That said, both of these
make perfect sense, considering what we already know about the Weapon
Plus program.

I can't believe people are still reading this. The first mini-series at
least had good artwork.

Are they going to call the next series "Phoenix Rap Song"? I remmeber
Claremont used to refer to Jean Grey as "Phoenix Rapper." Or was that
"Raptor"?

Except that the flashback parts of Morrisson's run seem to be deeply
embedded in the first arc of the EF ongoing.

Also, I think MOrissons said she'd had a nosejob. (Not the brown hair
though.)

It's nto liek they couldnt' have their father's nose you know. Wink

While you're right that she wasn't put into a coma after the battle
with Jean (all they said was that she needed lots of time to recover),
she was later put into a coma by Mastermind, after her mind-switch with
Storm. We see, in UXM #169 that she's kept under observation by the
Hellfire Club.

She was, which is why I didn't think it could have been this time.

Its lame due to that pesky thing about genetics....not every EGG has
the same genetic makeup so they wouldn't all look alike no matter
what. I could see them all being cloned from the same fertalized egg
(and I so proably misspelled that)

As someone else mentioned it's also rather lame that they are all
natural blondes whereas Emma is a brunette.

Emma has a *very* thorough dye job?

Except as others have pointed out, thanks to the Emma Frost series,
we know that current Emma doesn't look like "natural" Emma.

I cannot remember, did the Emma Frost series reveal that before or
after Morrison introduced the Cuckoos?
