Hi all,
I really need your prayers and I know you're all
really good at being there in times of need. Deryni
Group, I know I haven't been around much lately, but I
know you're always there when I need you!
My mom collapsed this morning. She's in a coma and
apparently has had a deep brain non-bleeding stroke.
According to my doctor friend Meg that's better than a
hemoraigic (sp?) stroke. Whatever, she's still
unconscious and in critical condition with very low
pressure. They haven't yet been able to determine the
extent of the brain damage. Because she signed a
Power of Attorney/DNR thing the last time she was in
the hospital, giving me Power of Attorney, I may have
to make the ultimate decision about turning off the
ventilator if it's determined that she is brain dead.
The doctors at the hospital (not my hospital but the
one nearest our house) are very negative and have
already suggested that. I told them I wouldn't do
anything without getting her to our hospital and
getting a second opinion from our doctors.
My doctor friend Meg says not to do ANYTHING for
some time because her dad had a similar experience and
was in a coma for like 30 days and then came out of it
and was fine. So I'm not doing anything irrevocable
for some time. But it's really scary and I basically
need a miracle. So I need lots of prayers!
Julianne, if you could please get the
Michaelines working on Mom (Her name is Helene Werner)
I'd appreciate it. And if anyone has candles, holy
water, or anything else (Jewish, Islamic, Hindi...I
don't care! Whatever works!) Please use it!
Thanks!
Love,
Susan >> Stay informed about: Urgent -- Prayers Needed! Thanks! |

You got it! My prayers and good thoughts are heading your mom's way.
I hope everything goes well with her (hopefully speedy) recovery!

Oh no! I'm so sorry, Susan! I'm so glad you have Meg there to help
and give you the benefit of her medical advice and experience. I hope
your mother's case will be like her father's, but I definitely
empathize with your fears, right now. I definitely agree you should
not do anything drastic without getting a second, and even third and
fourth opinions on your mother's prognosis. Talk to your mother, even
if you're not sure she can hear you, and reassure her that you're
there, and are not just going to lose hope of recovery. I hope the
other medical opinions give you more hope than the current situation
appears to indicate.
All prayers prayed, incense burned, candles lit, and "Wake up,
Helene" Woodgies sent. May the angels surround her hospital bed and
guide her back to you.

Hi Susan,
I feel for you. Being put in that situation is never easy. I agree
you should definitely get multiple opinions and pray.
Know that it's coming from my side of the US in buckets.

Dear Susan,
Thoughts and prayers are coming to your mother and yourself, from the
East Coast.
I agree with other posters get multiple opinions. Spend time with
your mother you might be her best link to recover.
May all the angels and saints be with you.
