I just spent the last 24 hrs in the hospital with my 4 yr old daughter. She
apparently had a seizure. They ran several tests. they have ruled out
fever, biological, and toxic. They are looking at neurological. The cat
scan came back showing what they call a developmental cyst and the EEG
showed an abnormality. We go back on Fri for a followup and to set up an
appt with a pediatric neurologist.
I'm not sure whether to pray they find something and figuure it out or that
it is just a one time thing and even if the reason is never found that is
never happens again. I guess please just pray for the best result.

Both mine and Laurie's prayers are with you and yours. Whatever it

That is NOT FUN at all....not at all fun.... there should be
some sort of law against little girls getting seriously ill
(thinking back to 2 years ago when Charis didn't eat for 4 days
from some sort of stomach virus).
You have my prayers and those of my family.

You've got it. Hopefully all will be well. One of my nieces has
epilepsy, which showed up around age 3 1/2. Now, as a teenager, she
has been seizure free for some years and it's looking promising that
she's 'outgrown' the problem although of course we're always on the
alert that something could happen.
While you're at it, would you say one for my sister Caz? You see,
with all the crud we've been dealing with lately, her husband thought
a trip to the snowfields (remember, it's winter for us and while Oz
doesn't get a LOT of snow, we do get some, mainly on mountaintops)
would be just the ticket for the family. Fun, exercise and a break
from the day to day misery.
Since their youngest son has significant hearing loss, they have a
policy that either one parent or his eldest brother or sister
(sensible kids aged 15 and 14) must be with Zack at all times in
crowds to spot for him. He wouldn't hear someone coming up behind and
that's potentially dangerous in snow with people not used to it. They
take it in turns so that no-one misses out on too much of the fun.
Caz was watching him in the children's play area (no skis, toboggans
or snowboards allowed in this area) when an IDIOT woman on a toboggan
ploughed right through where she was standing.
Caz was knocked flying, ending up with a mild concussion, severe
bruising down one side and a broken arm. Her left arm has 2 cracks
through wrist bones, plus snapped the ends off her radius and ulna
(forearm bones), a split running more than half the length of the
radius and a small greenstick fracture of the ulna. At the moment,
the arm is wearing it's third cast because it keeps swelling. It
needs to be pinned, but that can't be done until next week, when
hopefully the swelling will subside.

Thanks, that at least gives hope that it can be outgrown. My hubby's nephew
had seizures from age 10 til now (he's 30), but he never takes his meds
regularly or follows drs. orders.

Does he have a driver's license? Most states require that folks with
documented *uncontrolled* seizures not drive...and most states define
it as at least a year after a new seizure and at least 6 mos after a
seizure due to medical non compliance.
his doctor might be able to use this to pound some sense into the
nephew's head....
