Hi Bukowski readers,
I'm going to prepare a presentation about Charles Bukowski for school.
I'm in 13th grade of a German High School, and the main topic in our
English lessons is "American Dream - American Nightmare". The first
author that came to my mind was, apart from Arthur Miller, Charles
Bukowski. I've been a passionate Bukowski reader since I discovered
him one year ago, so I suggested to work out a presentation for our
English lessons.
I found a huge lot of material in German language, but I'd like some
English material as well as the presentation itself will be in
English. It would be good to have, for example, interviews so that I
could quote Bukowski, or maybe even essays/interpretations that deal
with my topic "Bukowski and the American Nightmare". I'd be really
glad if some of you could help me with this as I've only got a very
limited overview about Bukowskis works, I mainly read his poems and
only one novel.
Thank you,
Sarah Rohlfing

P.S.: If there is any similar information needed about German,
Austrian or Swiss authors, I'd enjoy to help and give extended
information or hints where to find good internet sites & archives.

There's a fairly decent book of essays about Buk called "Against The
American Dream", published by Black Sparrow, that might have some stuff
in it pertinent to your presentation. Worth checking out.

There a great deal of Bukowski audio files (him reading his poems)
available online through various p2p applications. I'm not sure how
easy the original records (or even re-releases of them) would be to
get a hold of. The point is, if you want to add that extra level by
playing a recording by Buk reading his poems instead of you reading it
yourself, there are clips available.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Presentation about Bukowski |

Thanks for the info on one of the greatest of American poets.
