Vonnegut and Primo Levi

Hi all,

I wonder if there is a connection here, or if I am loony. After
re-reading Slaughterhouse with my Wife for a book club, my wife pointed
out something interesting...

The Tralfamadorians say:

"Well, here we are, Mr. Pilgrim, trapped in the amber of this moment.
There is no why."

In contrast, Primo Levi writes of a time in Auschwitz where he asked a
gurad "Why". He got a response:

"hier ist kein warum"

This translates to "Here, there is no why"

Can anyone elaborate on this connection? Does anyone know more about this?
